5 Things to Pay Attention to When Viewing a Caravan

It may be very hard for you to select the best used caravan to buy from the large collection available on the market. However, this task can become easier if you keep some basic tips in mind as you view those caravans. This article discusses some of the things that you should pay attention to as you view a used caravan on sale.

The Service History

Ask to see the service records of that caravan. Those records will reveal how regularly professionals serviced the caravan. You will also learn about the recurrent problems that the caravan has had. Such information can help you to know which issues to look more closely into before you make a final decision. For instance, you may need to conduct a damp test in order to confirm that the repairs conducted fixed the damp problem.

The Smell

Pay attention to the smells that you notice as you view the caravan. Smells can alert you to problems that may not have been reflected in the service records of the caravan. For instance, the caravan may have developed a damp problem after its last service session. A smell of mould can alert you to such a damp problem. Investigate any strong smells that you detect inside the caravan.

The Sound of the Walls

Knock against the walls of the caravan at different points and listen to the sound that is made. A dull spongy sound may indicate that the walls absorbed moisture. Dry caravan walls should emit a loud banging sound when you knock them.

Caravan Financing

Does the caravan have any financing that hasn't been repaid? Ask for the purchase history of the caravan to confirm that you will not be inheriting any debts on that caravan. You can also contact the caravan or vehicle registration authorities in your area to find out whether the caravan has any debts on record.

Work Surfaces

Inspect the work surfaces in the interior of the caravan so that you confirm that there are no cracks. Those work surfaces are usually made from lightweight materials so falling objects, such as a spice jar, can easily damage them. It can be very costly to replace such a work surface. Buy a caravan with the least number of work surface defects.

Use the suggestions above to help you to be more systematic during your caravan viewing sessions. The tips will help you to select the best caravan whether you are buying from a dealer or a private seller.

About Me

Auto Electrical Faults

Yo! Welcome to my new blog. My name is Tim and I live in downtown Brisbane with my friends. I recently left school and got a job which allowed me to save up for my very first car. Man, I love it. I have always dreamt of owning a car. I didn't have lots of cash so I had to buy a pretty cheap car. Because my car is so old, it has had one or two problems. The biggest issue was with the electrical system. The windows wouldn't open, the headlights were dim and sometimes the car wouldn't start. Thankfully, I found a great auto service company who fixed all the problems for me. I learnt a lot from the mechanics there so I decided to start this blog.
